02 - Research compendia (practice)

For this exercise you are asked to look through a set of files that belong to a fictitious study. We recommend you to form pairs/groups of three and work through this together or even just share thoughts while you work on the exercise independently.

You have two options, either a qualitative study or a quantitative study (but feel free to play with both!). After familiarising yourself with the files (if you have questions, ask us!), you should rename and organise the files in a research compendium and upload it to the Open Science Framework.

  1. First, create an Open Science Framework (OSF) account if you don’t have one already: https://osf.io/register.

  2. Download zip archives with the studies here: qual, quant.

  3. Familiarise yourself with the files and ask us if you have questions.

  4. Rename and organise the files in folder to create a research compendium.

  5. Add a README file explaining the structure of the compendium.

  6. Add a LICENSE file.

  7. Write a log file where you explain the changes and how you have reorganised the files. You can call this file CHANGELOG or NEWS or anything else that makes sense in your field.

  8. When you are happy, create an OSF project and upload your research compendium
